Getting Started
Go to Register and choose your role — Student or Tutor. Fill in your first name, last name, email address, and a password.
Once submitted, a verification email is sent to your address. Open it and click Verify my email to activate your account. You cannot log in until this step is complete.
Check your spam or junk folder first — verification emails can occasionally land there. If it's not there, go back to the login page and click Resend verification email. A fresh link will be sent immediately. Verification links expire after 24 hours.
Log in — you'll land on your Dashboard, which shows your academic performance at a glance. From there you can:
- Browse tutors and request a 1-on-1 session
- Browse open group sessions and request a spot
- Check pending assignments from your Assignments page
Before students can find you, complete your profile at Edit Profile. You'll need:
- A bio describing your teaching style and qualifications
- Your hourly rate in BDS
- The subjects you teach
- An optional profile photo URL
Your listing goes live immediately once saved. You can update it any time.
1-on-1 Sessions
Go to Browse Tutors and filter by subject. Each tutor card shows their name, subjects taught, and hourly rate in BDS. Click a tutor's name to see their full profile, then click Request a Session.
Choose your subject, preferred date and time, and the session duration. Submit — the tutor receives a notification immediately.
Your request sits as Pending in your Sessions page until the tutor acts on it. Once the tutor confirms, the status changes to Confirmed and you receive a notification.
After the session, the tutor marks it complete. Session notes are added to your Learning Feed, and your Dashboard is updated with any new grade or progress data.
New requests appear in your Notifications and your Sessions dashboard, both listed as Pending. Open a session to review the student's details and requested time, then click Confirm or Decline.
Open the confirmed session and click Mark Complete. This posts session notes to the student's Learning Feed. From the session detail or the student's Grades page you can also record a grade — the student will see it on their Dashboard immediately.
Group Sessions
Enrollment Workflow — who does what
Tutor
Creates the group session — title, subject, date & time, duration, and maximum capacity. Session is published with status Open and is immediately visible to students.
Student
Browses Group Sessions, finds an open session, and clicks Request to Join. Enrollment status is set to Pending and the tutor is notified.
Tutor
Reviews pending enrollment requests on the session's management page. Clicks Accept or Decline for each student individually.
Student
Receives a notification — Confirmed or Declined. Confirmed students see tutor broadcasts and resources in their Learning Feed.
Tutor
After the session, clicks Mark Complete. Session notes fan out to all confirmed students. Tutor then records attendance (attended / absent) for each enrollee.
Go to Group Sessions. You can filter the list by subject. Click any open session to see its details — tutor, subject, scheduled time, duration, and remaining spots.
Click Request to Join. Your request goes to the tutor for review and you'll receive a notification once they've accepted or declined.
No — once the confirmed enrollment count reaches the session's capacity, the request button is disabled. Check back later; if a confirmed student cancels, a spot may reopen. You can also browse for another session covering the same subject.
Tutors can post announcements — prep materials, meeting links, reminders — to all confirmed students in a group session. These appear in your Learning Feed for that session. You'll also receive a notification when a new broadcast is posted.
Go to My Group Sessions and click New Group Session. You'll need:
- Title — a short name students will see when browsing
- Subject — select from your taught subjects
- Date & time — when the session takes place
- Duration — in minutes (up to 480)
- Capacity — maximum number of students (up to 100)
- Description — optional, but helps students decide to join
Click Create. The session is published immediately and visible to all logged-in students.
Open the session from My Group Sessions. You'll see a list of pending requests with each student's name. Click Accept to confirm a student — their status becomes Confirmed and they're notified. Click Decline to turn down a request — the student is notified either way.
From the group session detail page, use the Broadcast form at the bottom. Write your message — a prep note, a meeting link, a reminder — and submit. It posts to the Learning Feed of every confirmed student in the session.
Open the session and click Mark Complete. Session notes fan out to all confirmed students and the session is locked from further enrollment changes.
An attendance panel then appears for each confirmed student. Toggle each one as Attended or Absent. Attendance data is recorded in each student's academic history.
Yes, as long as the session hasn't been marked complete. Open the session and click Cancel. All confirmed students will receive a cancellation notification immediately.
Grades & Progress
Your Dashboard shows a high-level view of your performance across all subjects, with trend badges indicating whether you're improving, holding steady, or declining. For a full history of individual session scores, click any subject or visit the Grades page.
Yes. Your tutor can send a guardian invite to a parent or guardian's email address. Once they accept, they get read-only access to your progress reports and grades — they cannot book sessions or message your tutor on your behalf.
Go to the student from My Students and click Invite Guardian. Enter the guardian's email address. They'll receive an invitation link — once accepted, they can view that student's progress reports.
Assignments
Go to Assignments and click New Assignment. Choose the student, write the question or task, and set a due date. Submit — the student receives a notification and the assignment appears in their Assignments page.
Open the assignment from your Assignments page, write your response in the submission field, and click Submit. Your tutor will review it and post feedback. You'll be notified when their feedback is ready.
Messaging
Go to Messages in the navigation. Start a new thread by selecting the person you want to contact. All messages are organised by conversation thread, making it easy to follow discussions about specific sessions or topics.
Yes. A notification appears in your Notifications panel whenever you receive a new message. Check the bell icon in the header to stay up to date.
Your Account
On the Login page, click Forgot password?. Enter the email address on your account and submit. A password reset link will be emailed to you — click it within 1 hour to set a new password. After that the link expires and you'll need to request a new one.
Go to Account Settings from the navigation menu. From there you can update your display name, email address, and password. Changes take effect immediately.
